Simply put an active and experienced member of Imperial be matched up with a less experienced member whom can help this I.W. member in a more friendly manner than then randomly messaging one of the higher members of Imperial. I believe its just an easier more open and friendly way of having Imperial support I.W. members.
Of course this would be volunteer of the Imperial members and fully by choice.

I have always liked this idea, sorta like jedi and padawan,
everytime i have seen this tried, in like squads, or apprentices,
it fell apart quickly. This does not mean we should not try this...
if i had the time, i would gladly be more proactive in training...
hopefully some good will come from this idea... let's try
    anything and everything.

When you greet the universe with good intentions,
the universe will use that energy and something good will
be returned to you from the universe.

We tried this over in I.W for a while. Didn't work out the greatest.
I think though, that if we made a topic where people can post to be either mentor, or person to be mentored, it could prove useful?
Maybe when you post to be mentored, you can tell us where you wish to go in this game, where you are, etc, etc. The mentor's can post their playing style, and any other possibly helpful information.
Just a few ideas to throw Smile

I think this would be an awesome idea because I don't know much and I always have lots of questions.

Well, Ryan, since there is no such thing as a stupid question,
go ahead and ask the question here.

This will serve to allow for multiple answers from a variety of skilled
    players with different approaches.

And also, by doing questions and answers on this thread, it may help
other players who may not even know what questions to ask yet....

Ok well here is a random question.

Why do people attack others with an ACS, but there "partner" is themself. Why don't they just send all their fleet together?

There are a variety of reasons....
    the 2 biggest reasons:
    1. to save fuel.
if you send your slow ships first, for example, bombers,
then send your fast ships, like battleships and cruisers, at a slower speed,
you can save fuel that way....
    2. using a few fleet slots on attack can make your returning ships
land at different times, (with practice), thus making it more difficult for more experienced
stalkers to blind lanx return your attack.

Sending the entire fleet in one fleetslot uses more fuel,
and is easy pickings for blind lanxers...

I did not know about the fuel issue either. I thought it would already be adjusting the faster ships' fuel consumption accordingly when combined with slower ships...

I will try and see it later on Smile

    Thanks

You are right, i should be more specific....

I use the fast ships to slow the slow ships even more
for the additional purpose of confusing anyone trying
to steal any DF.... (force of habit)
This has the result of being slightly
    more economical on fuel....

I forgot about that....^ good catch!
    I stand corrected.

How would using fast ships slow down slow ships?

lol, oh boy, can o worms....

    k... say i send bombers & dessies at 90%...
and let's say for this example, the flight time is 20 minutes to target....
then, after a few minutes, (giving the defender time
to organize a df steal, or to send defend info to buddies),
i then send the fast ships at , say, 30% and the flight time is
shortened to a new arrival time of 23 minutes.
I have used less fuel on my fast ships,
and given myself a 3 minute window to look for acs defends,
and look for harvest recalls from his buddies in the area.
    ...
i said fuel is mostly the reason, but i was trying to over simplify...
the main reason is anti-ninja timing and anit-steal techniques,
that also happen to save a wee bit of fuel. again, my bad,
i have been doing this so long, the hard stuff is second nature,
and simple stuff like a 10% savings on fuel are huge to me... lol.

    Another question.

On the forums people are always accusing each other of DDosing and VMing.

    What are they talking about?

    re: DDosing and VMing.

VMing, or V-Moding, is the when a player goes into vmode
instead of fleetsaving. this does not offer the angry a target for revenge,
thus they troll them on the forums and call them "dirty stinking vm'ers"
    or "turkmoders".

DDosing, or distributed denial of service attacks, are when hackers
ping the server with millions of discreet packets of information thus
denying other legitimate users of server access. It is usually done
right after a huge attack is launched, so the defender cannot log in
to move out of the way of the attack.

Can't you get into legal trouble for DDosing if it affects the servers?

I wouldn't... as for why some people would...
I can only guess there are some really stupid people out there.
I once heard someone paid a thousand dollars for an account
with 2 million ships... dunno if true, but nothing surprises me.
